About Londonderry

Londonderry is in western Rockingham County and had 25,826 residents at the 2020 census. The settlers who petitioned for it in 1719 called the place Nutfield, for the nut trees growing thick across it, and the town was chartered in 1722 and named for Londonderry in Ulster.

It is still known for its apple orchards. Mack's Apples, Sunnycrest Farm and Elwood Orchards all draw crowds every fall, and apple picking is about as close to a town-wide tradition as anything here gets. Half of Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, including the main terminal, sits in the northwest corner of town.

One unusual thing about Londonderry is that for a town of its size it has no concentrated downtown, no central business district and no real town center. It was farmland until I-93 went through, growth accelerated in the 1970s, and it filled in as a bedroom community without ever developing a middle.

What that leaves is 42 square miles of houses on generous lots, many of them backing onto what used to be orchard. If you want to build a detached garage with room around it, and a workshop or a loft inside it, this is close to the easiest town in our service area to do it in.

Garage Builder Londonderry NH

A detached garage is ideal in almost every way, especially if you want to use your garage as a place for hanging out, or doing activities that would result in making a little more noise, playing drums or practicing with a band for instance. Attached garages can also be used for these activities, of course, but you'll want to pay more attention to the insulation and possibly sound proofing as well so you can shelter the rest of the house from the noise that might be made in the garage.

The good news for you is that we can do both options, and do them well. By hiring us, you're securing a well built, sturdy and useful garage space for yourself, whether you need it for storing your vehicle, or even multiple vehicles, or you need a hangout space, or you're trying to make a band practice space, or you simply need more storage space for tools and garden furniture.

So if you're looking for a garage builder in Londonderry, NH, then look no further. We've got the tools, experience and knowledge to build you the best garage for the best price. No more having to worry about leaving your car out in the cold when winter comes. With our garages you can rest easy knowing your car's got a safe place to be.

The Part People Skip

Insulation Is What Makes The Space Usable

A garage that's insulated well will not only help keep noise from escaping, but it will ensure that your garage will stay warm in the winter months. This will make it easier to keep your car warm and help you avoid problems with the engine, but it will also make your garage space a lot more pleasant to spend time in once the winter hits.

It's especially important to get your garage door insulated, as garage doors are generally quite large and pretty much act as one of the walls of your garage. Without insulation, you'll be allowing a lot of cold to seep into your garage.

This is the decision we see regretted most often, and it is almost always regretted in the same direction. Nobody has ever called us to say they wish they had insulated less. Plenty of people call a few winters later asking what it would take to go back and do it properly, and retrofitting is always more expensive and more disruptive than doing it during the build.

If there is any chance the space becomes a workshop, an office, a gym or a room anyone wants to spend time in, insulate it while the walls are open. Even if it stays a garage forever, you will notice the difference every January.

Worth Knowing Locally

Building In A Town With No Center

Londonderry's spread-out, semi-rural layout changes a few practical things about a garage project here. These are the ones that come up most.

  • Generous lots mean siting is usually a choice rather than a compromise
  • Long driveways are common, so plan where the new bay's approach actually starts
  • Plenty of properties back onto former orchard land, which affects drainage
  • Well and septic locations need confirming before anything is dug
  • Larger lots make a three car build or a workshop bay genuinely realistic here
  • Detached structures suit the rural character better than a large attached box
  • Lofts are popular locally and are cheapest to build into the original plan
  • Setbacks still apply, so the property line gets walked before we quote
